Greetings from Venice

Until November 25th 2018 you will have the chance to admire Greetings from Venice at the Event Pavilion of Il Fondaco dei Tedeschi in Venice, a site-specific installation by the artist Elisabetta Di Maggio curated by Chiara Bertola.
Elisabetta Di Maggio returns to her Venice with a project that expresses time that flows, the links between places and people and the value of memory. In
Greetings from Venice the artist thinks back to the Byzantine layout and pattern of the floor mosaics of the Basilica of San Marco and some of the main Venetian buildings. She does so by disguising the solid presence of mosaic tiles with delicate and fragile plugs in the shape of one hundred thousand used stamps from all over the world which the artist has divided by origin and colour before arranging them to form the magic that appears before our eyes and all with the help of students from the Marco Polo High School in Venice, just like a real Renaissance workshop.

Greetings from Venice

Works of art, flowers and queens of every country and colour are linked together according to the lines that the artist has studied and structured in advance in an idea of “false ruin” that recalls the ancient role of the Fondaco dei Tedeschi or the former Palazzo delle Poste.
With this new exhibition, the DFS group confirms its willingness to return the Fondaco dei Tedeschi to its ancient vocation as a place where culture and commerce, secular traditions and contemporaneity converge and intertwine along with local and international visitors.
